Change Your Story, Change Your World
What if the key to transforming how you feel lies in the story you tell yourself? 🗝️
In my Mindset Coaching and online course, I teach that changing your inner narrative can shift your outer reality. It comes down to consciously choosing a perspective that serves you--rejecting frustration, doubt and worry (all variations of fear) for feelings that serve you (based on love), like gratitude.
Let’s reframe some common moments, from a disappointing meal out and friction with a loved one, to empower you and those around you.
Fancy Flop Turned Fabulous 🍾
We’ve all had moments where expectations crash. My mentor once shared a story about a pricey restaurant meal that was an absolute culinary crash. Instead of getting caught up in whinge mode and complaining about the disappointment all night and into the next day at work (sound familiar?), she flipped perspective to see it as a blessing:
“How lucky am I to afford this swanky night out? I got to laugh with friends, wear my favourite heels and sharpen my foodie radar because I’m spoiled with amazing meals.” That's quite a shift!
💎 Takeaway: When life doesn’t deliver to expectations, jot down something you're grateful for in that moment. You might like to keep a “Reframed Blessings” journal in your phone—it’ll be your very own positivity playlist you can revisit anytime. 🎉
Friction? Let's Call It "Connection in Disguise" 🥸
Relationships can feel like a tug-of-war, but those tugs often mean you’re tied to someone special. A client, Sarah, used to clash with her business partner over creative decisions. It felt personal, until she reframed it:
“I’m really lucky to work with someone I trust enough to be open with. We disagree because we’re both passionate and that passion fuels our success.”
💡By focusing on trust and shared goals, she turned conflict into creative collaboration.
Similarly, think of a heated moment with a loved one. Maybe you and your partner argued over something small, like whose turn it was to do the dishes. Instead of “They never listen,” try: “How blessed am I to have someone I can be raw and honest with?”
💡No relationship is perfect, but that’s the beauty—real bonds grow through the mess.
💎 Takeaway: Next time you feel friction, ask, “What does this show about how much I care?” Then, note one thing you’re grateful for about that connection, and add it to your “Reframed Blessings” journal.
💡By now you're seeing a pattern - shift your view and capture the positive flipside. Over time you'll form a habit and it won't take such conscious effort.
Small Shifts, Real Big Impact 🌤️
Reframing doesn’t require grand gestures or fake smiles—just small, intentional shifts. 🤔
Another client, Anna, felt overwhelmed by chaotic mornings with her kids. She used to think, “I’m failing as a mum.” Then she changed her story: “I’m so lucky to have these lively, spirited tornado-kids who teach me patience every day! This chaos means our home is full of love.”
That shift didn’t change the mess, but it changed how Anna felt—calmer and more present. 🤍
💡As I share on kristincav.com, upgrading our mindset involves choosing thoughts that lift you up. It’s not about ignoring the mess, but seeing the innate magic in it. What I have learnt, and keep learning, is that there is always something positive if we allow ourselves to see it!
"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." ~ Wayne Dyer
💎 I love this quote because it’s like a mental magic wand. Your perspective really does transform your reality. Think about that for a moment—does it spark something within you?
Your Next Step: Share The Shift ✨
Changing your story doesn’t just boost you—it inspires everyone around you as they feel your energy shift… even if they can’t explain it, they will “feel” something is different about you.
I hope you’ll try reframing some moments today, and please forward this email to remind someone you care about to embrace their power to shift their mindset for the better!
